Funeral services for Melba Wamble Brooks will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 6, 2019 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes ~ West Monroe. Rev. Ricky Baker will officiate. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home ~ West Monroe.Melba was born November 18, 1947 in Houston, Mississippi and passed away June 3, 2019 in West Monroe, Louisiana. She was a retired radiology technologist. Melba was preceded in death by her husband, John Young Brooks, Jr.; mother, Mary Pearl Berry Wamble; brother, James Curtis Wamble.Melba is survived by her father, Curtis Lee Wamble; three children, LeAnne Teshon and husband Ralph, Frances Sturdivant and husband Jeff, James H. Smith, Jr. and wife Tina; nine grandchildren, Morgan Blom, Megan Elliott and husband James, Richard Blom, Jennifer Stephenson and husband Derek, Anna Gates, Jason Sturdivant and wife Katie, Brittany Maricle and husband Dalton, Jacob Smith, Rayna Smith; six great-grandchildren, Weston Gates, Caelum Elliott, Kennedy Elliott, Hunter Stephenson, Presley Sturdivant, Alaina Sturdivant.

Ms.Melba was our Mothers(Gertha Arrant)best friend at Ridgecrest for two years till our Mothers death.When Ms.Melba saw us visiting with Momma she would visit with us and we came to love and respect her,that old cancer put her through some pain but she didnt give in but kept fighting.Sorry for your loss but HEAVEN gained another ANGEL and I bet their alredy playing ROOK and our Momma is "shootin the moon".PRAYERS FOR YOU.
