Maydra Johnston Pomeroy, 82 of Monroe, Louisiana passed away suddenly in her home on
January 31, 2021 Maydra was born in Bastrop, Louisiana to Allen and Miriam Johnston on
March 3, 1938. Maydra was a top selling real estate agent in the Monroe area for many years
earning lifetime achievements for top sales. She was a fierce competitor and loved to play
tennis and golf in her younger years winning many trophies and tournaments. Later in life,
Maydra was a valued member of the Ouachita Parish Women’s Republican Club holding officer
positions. She was also active at the state and national levels serving as Regional Vice
President of the Louisiana Federation of Republican Women.
Maydra is preceded in death by her father Allen Johnston, her mother Miriam Honey Tyler,
stepfather Olan Dean Tyler, brother Ranny Johnston, and her beloved daughters Debra
Pomeroy DeMarco and Sandra McSherry-Pires. She is survived by her daughter Patricia
Barnes and husband Randy, and grandchildren Emily Barnes Cambre and husband Mark, Jr.,
Lauren Ponn and Alexa DeMarco and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 5, 2021 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Calhoun, LA.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
