Funeral services for Maxine Thomas, 94, of Marion, LA., will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Haile Church of Christ in Haile, La. Officiating will be Bart Miller assisted by Brad Post. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. till time of service. Interment will follow in Liberty Linville Cemetery under direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville.
Maxine was born on June 30, 1927 in Marion, Louisiana and died April 4, 2022 in Farmerville, Louisiana. She lived in Marion her whole life and was dearly loved by the community. Maxine was a member of Haile Church of Christ, and she greatly cherished her church family. She was a proud mother and an adored “Mamaw” to her granddaughters and great grand children. She was a wonderful cook and was most famous for her chicken and dumplings, which no one else could ever fully replicate. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling, and competing in the Senior Olympics, where she won multiple gold medals. Maxine is best remembered for her endurance in the face of hardships, her quick smile, and her strong love for her family and friends. She loved God, and her life was a testimony to her faith.
Maxine is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Thomas; her son, Eddie Thomas, and her son-in-law, Bobby Jenny. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Jenny of Marion; her granddaughters Lori Edgar (Dan) and Ashley Post (Brad), and her great grand children, Peyton, Darcy, Julianne, Audra, Vivian, Naomi, Braden, Mercy, and Isabela.
Pallbearers will be: Lanny Parker, Lee Brantley, Josh Parker, Scott Jones, Joe Preaus, and Dwaine Flowers.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Cullen Miller, and Maddox Miller.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Arbor Lake Nursing Home for their loving care of Maxine, especially her “other daughter” Michele Davis, who loved her dearly.
