Max W. Albritton Kilpatrick Funeral Home Farmerville, LA Services for Max W. Albritton are planned for Friday, September 7, 2012 at 2pm at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville followed by Graveside services at Conway Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Dr. Connie Ward, assisted by Bro. Kurt Auger and Dr. Lionel Crowell. Visitation will be from 12 noon till time of service. Max Albritton was born on May 5, 1932 in Farmerville Louisiana and passed away peacefully at his home in Ruston on September 4, 2012. Max was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer A. “Pete” and Reitha Tugwell Albritton; Sisters Celeste and Melba Fern “Gal” Albritton; brothers Darwin G. Albritton, and Coy L. Albritton; brothers–in-law Ernest E. “Buddy” Williams, R.V. Slade, Heard Odom Jr. and wife Joyce, W.G. Odom and wife Ruby, and nephew Jimmy Heard Odom. He is survived by his wife Frenchie Nell Odom Albritton, son Ritchey Von Albritton, grandson Ritchey Von Albritton II and Justin Allen ALbritton and wife Amy, great-grand kids Mia Claire Albritton, Cross Keyland Albritton and Charlee Grace Albritton. He is also survived by sister Margaret Williams, nephew Mark Williams, nieces Debbie Hammons, Rhonda Beheler, Sheila Nix, and Sandy Lee with numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Ernestine Slade. Max loved hunting with brother-in-law and friend R.V. Slade in Truxno and fishing with anyone who wanted to go. He was a Deacon at 1st Baptist Church of Vienna. Max went to work for Louisiana Power & Light the day after his graduation from Farmerville High School in 1950. He spent the next thirteen years working at the Sterlington Power Station then was transferred to First Southern Control in Gretna and later Little Gypsy Power Plant in Laplace. In 1963 he became homesick for his North Louisiana and after he was hired by Mr. P.G. Grambling to work at the new City of Ruston Steam Power Plant. He worked for twenty years for the city, the last ten as Superintendent of Utilities under Mayor Johnny Perritt's Administration. He and Mayor Perritt negotiated long-term contracts with Hydro Electric Utilities in MO. and Public Power Utilities in AR, while lobbying the Louisiana Legislative tirelessly for a public power organization in the state. Thru these efforts with so many others, Louisiana Energy and Power Authority was enacted in 1979. In 1983, Max left the city his legacy to his adopted hometown, bringing the cheapest Electric rates in Louisiana. He then went to work in Plaquemine representing the city Power and Water Plant as Superintendent and the city on the LEPA Board of Directors. In 1989 he retired from the Louisiana Municipal system where he formed Truxno Consultants and consulted LEPA power plants at Morgan City, Plaquemine, New Roads and Minden, until 1997 and then just Minden. Special friends are too numerous to mention thru the years but in particular A.C. Russell, Mayor Johnny Perritt and R.V. Slade. He loved his family and was an inspiration to them. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Grigsby, and the caregivers from St. Josephs Home Health Care and Hospice. Pallbearers are Cordell Grand, Mark Holtsclaw, Thomas Colvin, Lavelle Singleton, Mark Williams, Ronnie Rockforte and Thomas Hammons. Honorary Pallbearer will be Johnny Tatum.
