Maureen Ann Davis Johnson, 72, of Ruston, Louisiana went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, October 6, 2012, after a long battle with ovarian cancer. A private burial will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Pines Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Reverend Jerry G. Hilbun of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Following the burial, the family will be receiving visitors from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at Trinity United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 A.M. at the church. Maureen Davis Johnson was born in Greenfield, Massachusetts, on August 21, 1940. While working as a registered nurse in New Orleans, Louisiana, in the summer of 1962, she met her future husband, Dr. Darryl L. Johnson. They married on June 13, 1964. There were married for forty-eight years and had three daughters. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and actively involved in many organizations such as the Lincoln Parish Medical Society Auxiliary where she served as a Green Safety Lady, Ruston Civic Guild, Tuesday Bridge Club, Morning Stitch Group, and The Bookies. Maureen's faith was evident in the way she lived her life. She loved life and was so giving of her time, love, encouragement, and most importantly, her knowledge about books and travel. She loved to travel and did so extensively with family and friends. As a travel agent, she loved planning trips for others, making their trip special by planning every detail. As a prolific reader, she read constantly and enjoyed sharing her books with many. Maureen is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Darryl L. Johnson, and her daughters, Ann J. Bowen, Amy L. Johnson, and Beth G. Johnson all of Birmingham, Alabama. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Jane Cooke and husband, Paul of Shreveport, Louisiana, and her sister, Elaine Graves, of California. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews, all of whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Jeannette Davis, her in laws, Fred and Billie Johnson, and her sister, Claudia Gaimari. Pallbearers are Mr. John O'Neal, Mr. Paul Cooke, Dr. Harold LeDoux, Mr. Ed Shell, Dr. J.V. Jones, and Mr. George Parkman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Ban Haley, Dr. Carol Guinn, Mr. Bob Fowlkes, Mr. Chris Bowen, Mr. Alvin Curlee, and Mr. Scott Winstead.
