Maureen Ann Davis Johnson, 72, of Ruston, Louisiana went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, October 6, 2012, after a long battle with ovarian cancer. A private burial will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Pines Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Reverend Jerry G. Hilbun of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Following the burial, the family will be receiving visitors from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at Trinity United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 A.M. at the church. Maureen Davis Johnson was born in Greenfield, Massachusetts, on August 21, 1940. While working as a registered nurse in New Orleans, Louisiana, in the summer of 1962, she met her future husband, Dr. Darryl L. Johnson. They married on June 13, 1964. There were married for forty-eight years and had three daughters. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and actively involved in many organizations such as the Lincoln Parish Medical Society Auxiliary where she served as a Green Safety Lady, Ruston Civic Guild, Tuesday Bridge Club, Morning Stitch Group, and The Bookies. Maureen's faith was evident in the way she lived her life. She loved life and was so giving of her time, love, encouragement, and most importantly, her knowledge about books and travel. She loved to travel and did so extensively with family and friends. As a travel agent, she loved planning trips for others, making their trip special by planning every detail. As a prolific reader, she read constantly and enjoyed sharing her books with many. Maureen is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Darryl L. Johnson, and her daughters, Ann J. Bowen, Amy L. Johnson, and Beth G. Johnson all of Birmingham, Alabama. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Jane Cooke and husband, Paul of Shreveport, Louisiana, and her sister, Elaine Graves, of California. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews, all of whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Jeannette Davis, her in laws, Fred and Billie Johnson, and her sister, Claudia Gaimari. Pallbearers are Mr. John O'Neal, Mr. Paul Cooke, Dr. Harold LeDoux, Mr. Ed Shell, Dr. J.V. Jones, and Mr. George Parkman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Ban Haley, Dr. Carol Guinn, Mr. Bob Fowlkes, Mr. Chris Bowen, Mr. Alvin Curlee, and Mr. Scott Winstead. The family of Maureen Johnson wishes to thank Dr. Jeb Butler, Dr. Tika Ranjitkar, Dr. David Osafo, Drs. Shelia and Ed Mariano, Dr. Jack Cox, Jr., Dr. Pamela Soliman and their staff, Carroll Home Health, especially Ginger Love Pierce and staff, Hospice of Caring Hearts, Paula Norman, Janice Daye, Maddie Daye, Alvin Curlee, Scott Winstead and family, and Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Although I never met Mo, I felt like I gained a glimpse of the woman she was through her daughter Beth. I know Beth is the wonderful person she is today because of what she learned from her mom. Throughout Mo's battle, Beth has shown such courage, strength, and devotion along with an unwavering faith in God. Her example of faithfulness has been an inspiration to me. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.

To a wonderful family our thoughts and prayers are with you. Maureen was a wonderful neighbor and friend. We remember all the time we spent together on Old Wire road. I remember throwing bricks from the deck of your home on Old Wire Rd. aiming to kill snakes in the garden which none of us liked. Wonderful memories of a great lady and family. Love to all

Dr. Darryl, we were so sorry to learn of Maureen's death!! Ya'll have been so kind to our family through the years in many ways and such a devoted couple to each other. She was always such a sweet and gracious lady and I know she will be missed.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I am Gayle LeDoux's sister. I know how much Gayle & Harold loved Maureen and Darryl. I haven't seen Maureen since 2008 but remember how she always made me smile when I saw her. I will be praying for her family and friends that God will give you the strength and comfort to get through this difficult time.
