Funeral services for Mary Ellen Williams Tolbird will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 16, 2020 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe with Rev. Robert Hill officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 1:00 PM until service time. Interment will follow at The Lords Campfire (formally) Lapine Methodist Cemetery on Charlie Griggs Road.
Mary Ellen Williams Tolbird, a beloved mother devoted to her family, age 88, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2020. She was born February 20, 1932 in Pontotoc, Mississippi to Willie Thomas and Cletie Ozel Williams. She is preceded in death by her husband Rev. Charles Franklin Tolbird, granddaughters, Tammy Bollier and Madison Henson; sisters, JoAnn Parish and Maggie May; son-in-law Joey Bollier and grandson-in-law Lonnie Matheson. She was devoted to Christ, her husband, children and family. She loved working in her rose garden, using her talent of cooking to minister to loved ones, coloring beautiful artwork to brighten others days, listening to gospel music and reading her Bible. She was a member of New Life Assembly of God in West Monroe; the church that her and Rev. Charles Tolbird helped to build together. She served faithfully by her husband’s side as they pastored several churches in West Monroe and surrounding areas.
Mary Ellen is survived by her three daughters, Barbara Hite and husband, Johnny of West Monroe, LA, Charlene Bollier of Quitman, LA, Marilyn Lee and husband, Mitchell of West Monroe, LA, son, Loy Tolbird and wife Shelley of West Monroe, LA; eight grandchildren Michael Hite, Lorrie Henson, Angela Matheson, Sandy Collins, Jennifer Graves, Brian Lee, Lakiesha Sullivan, Rocky Tolbird and Jade Tolbird; 10 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Martin Williams and Franklin Williams; 4 sisters Billie Tolbird, Ozel Shavers, Patty Hester and Betty Justice and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell Lee, Brian Lee, Samuel Sassin, Daniel Hill, Brennan Brown and Jerry Kilpatrick.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Hite, Jade Tolbird, Rocky Tolbird, Matt Graves, Tyler Crow, Erik Hill, Evan Kilpatrick and Rocky Tolbird.
