Funeral services for Martha Phillip Norrell of West Monroe will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Highland Baptist Church of Monroe. Officiating will be Bro. Larry Linson. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens. Visitation will be held Friday, July 1, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Kilpatricks Funeral Home of West Monroe.
Martha loved to travel and was devoted to her family and friends. She loved her church, sewing and quilting. Her favorite songs was anything by Elvis Presley. She gave her family and friends the gift of her treasured poetry and writing. Martha is preceded in death by her parents Charlie D. Phillips and Rose Ellis Phillips and her brother Charles Edwin “Sonny” Phillips.
Martha is survived by her husband Cleve Norrell; daughter Angela Sandifer and husband Scott; granddaughters Evan Havens and Soren Havens and fiancé Ross Gresham; great-grandchild Leah; best friends Sondra White and Linda Webb.
Serving as pallbearers will be J.C. Knight, Jeff Knight, Donnie Knight, Sam Cobb, Nathan Cobb and David Self.

I knew Martha back in the late 70s and early 80s when she and I worked at GC Murphy Co. I saw her at just a few of the reunions of former employees I was able to attend. I always remember her being so pretty and had the most pleasant personality. My condolences to her husband, daughter, granddaughters, and rest of the family during this time of sorrow.

Cleve, I was so sorry to learn of Martha’s passing. We go back a long way…to Crosley School long before G.C. Murphy Company. I really admired her for the way she handled the news of the onset of dementia and told her so. I don’t know of many that could have dealt with it as she did. I am sad to hear of Martha’s passing; however I know she is celebrating with Jesus. I loved working with Martha at Texas Industries. The eight and a half years I worked there were enjoyable because I got to work with Martha. We shared a lot with each other at our lunch breaks. We talked about our families and our love for God. Martha taught me how to shop clearance sales and we spent many lunch breaks at Pecan Land Mall looking for those bargains. We took a business trip to Colorado Springs one March. Martha and I decided to go a day early and stay a day longer so we could do some sight seeing. I drove and Martha navigated. Martha did take over the driving one evening when I panicked as we were driving up a mountain. I loved Martha like a sister. The time I got to share with Martha has been a great blessing and I thank God that I was allowed to know her. I know she will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
