Funeral service for Marshall Johnston will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 12, 2017 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Bro. Terry Slawson will officiate. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery West Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.Marshall was born November 11, 1927 in Monroe, LA and passed away May 8, 2017 in West Monroe. He loved his family and volunteered at Morehouse Parish Hospital. Marshall loved traveling, fishing and was a member of Campers on Mission. He served in the United States Air Force for 21 years and served 6 years of reserve.Marshall was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Hendricks.Survived by his wife of 70 years, Virignia; daughters, Sandra Johnston, Nancy Bradstock and husband Thom; granddaughters, Jessica Feinstein and husband Adam, Amanda Bradstock- Weitz and husband Brendan; great-granddaughters, Cora, Sienna and Adelaide.Visitation will be held Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.kilpatrickfuneralhome.comKilpatrick Funeral HomeWest Monroe, LA

Mr. Johnston was my Electronics instructor in the early 80's in Bastrop.He was intelligent , helpful , consistent , patient and direct.I still have the lab books from the class and refer to them often.Each time I do I think about Mr.Johnston and how he affected my life.He was the best teacher that I ever had.I'm sure that he affected many people the same way.My condolences to the family.Kit Hayes.

I will definitely miss Mr Johnston driving up to my porch steps on his lawnmower, knocking on the steps with his cane to get my attention, I'd walk outside and before you knew it an hour or so had passed by just talking. Just won't be the same. Such a treasure and a blessing to have for a neighbor. I do have to smile when I picture him in heaven, walking up to Jesus with his new body, no cane, and just talking with his Heavenly Father and before you know it, an hour or so has passed. :)
