Marsha Kay Clinton was born in Ruston, Louisiana on May 23, 1936. She passed on in her beloved family home in Clay, Louisiana on October 17, 2017. She grew up there enjoying farming, cotton fields, horses, livestock, and the joy of rural life in the 1940.Marsha was preceded in death by her father, HP Clinton; mother, Winifred Meek Clinton; and nephew, Mark Howie. Marsha is survived by her sister, Harriett Howie; brother, Larry Clinton; nieces and nephews, Laura Howie Keller, Stacie Clinton, Lance Clinton, Clint Howie; several great nieces and nephews; and one great great nephew.Marsha graduated from Ruston High School then went on to earn a degree from Louisiana Tech University in Home Economics. She was a high school teacher in both Tensas Parish and Bossier Parish before returning to her family home in Clay. After returning home, Marsha Kay served as librarian at Lincoln Parish Library for 32 years, where she was also head of the genealogy department. She was passionate about history, especially family and local.Marsha was active in civic and community groups such as Ruston Quota Club and DAR. She was a friend to children and animals; adopting many strays throughout her lifetime. She supported both St. Jude Children Hospital and ASPCA monthly.Marsha Kay Clinton remained an educator at heart all of her life, and never missed an opportunity to teach and share from her many hobbies and interests. She loved to fish, garden, sew, create, refurbish, learn, and collect. Marsha was an avid bird watcher and a nature lover in every way. She spent countless hours with her nieces and nephews and their friends doing projects and activities, passing on the lessons and knowledge from the good old days. We carry these lessons and love from Marsha Kay with us today and hope to honor her by continuing to pass along to others what she so freely gave.Graveside memorial service will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 25th at Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston, Louisiana under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. John Raymond Kavanaugh will offer a blessing and words of remembrance.
