I knew Mark as someone in our online community, and while we never met in real life, he was a friend and always shared a laugh or helpful insight. This picture is of a post he shared with us in April 2021. He was a friend to many and will be truly missed.

I met Mark on the social media site, "countersocial". He was always kind, patient and gently humorous. He taught me a great deal about America, particularly regarding the justice system and constitution. My heart goes out to his family and friends. Mark was a lovely man and he will be greatly missed. Godspeed, my friend.

To Mark's family - I knew Mark through his social media activities (counter.social) where he was one of our most-loved, respected and friendly members. He was always willing to help both old & new friends, whether it was with advice, general chit-chat or just sharing his insightful thoughts on the discussions of the day. I'm truly sorry for your loss and Mark will be missed dreadfully by everyone, including his many friends in our community. Thoughts to all of you. RIP.

My sincere condolences to Mark's family. This is shocking and you're in my thoughts. To Tony, Sophia, Charles and Liella, Sean, Dennis and to all who loved him. He was a brilliant and funny man, a good friend, someone who was there for many people, in a heartbeat. He had a big heart and a great sense of humor. None of this news makes any sense and I am so sorry he is no longer with us. He was a good soul. <3

Mark, your life story was an inspiration to me and many others. I had just spoke to you about a crawfish boil for February 11th. We traveled the world and climb mountains and shared laughs and we cried. I will never forget you and miss you. Love you my good friend.

I never got to meet Mark, but he was one of the first folks I met on social media. His guidance and assistance helped ease my nervousness about social media, and he was a delight to share ideas and thoughts and art. I will miss him and our conversations. Rest now, Mark, rest.

Allan Van Fleet left a message on February 7, 2023:
Mark was a gifted lawyer with a master’s degree in social work. He was a creative corporate litigator who gave generously of his time and talent to people less fortunate. His causes included finding better living conditions for children and reforming the Harris County bail system that kept presumptively innocent persons in jail before trial if they were too poor to pay cash bonds. In the screen capture he appears with Judge Darrell Jordan and me on Fox TV’s Isiah Project Uncensored to discuss the federal-court bail case.

I met Mark in college at ETBU and we became fast friends. He was a kind and generous person. Lots of laughter and great memories of our time together. I caught up with him years later in Tyler and it was like old times. I had not seen him in several years but we kept in touch on social media. Rest easy my friend.
