Funeral services for Marjorie Marie Brown Rainwater, age 82, will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 10, 2014 at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Ruston, Louisiana. Officiating will be The Rev. Bill Easterling. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Kilpatrick‚ Funeral Home.Visitation will be held at Haskell Hall at the Church of the Redeemer, located at 504 Tech Dr. at 1:00 pm Monday, March 10, 2014 prior to the service at 2:00 pmMrs. Rainwater passed away on March 7, 2014 at her home in Ruston from a long battle with emphysema and COPD. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Byron HudsonB.H. Rainwater of Ruston; sons: Charles Rainwater of Ruston and Marshall Rainwater of Houston, TX; daughters: Carol Rainwater Gorgal and her husband Ralph of Mesquite, Texas, and Rebecca Rainwater Pesnell and her husband, Ricky of Ruston; grandchildren: Ashley Caskey Hinton and her husband Brett of Ruston, LA, Trevor Pesnell of Ruston, LA, C.J. Gorgal and Mary Gorgal of Mesquite, TX; great-granddaughter, Alyssa LeBlanc of Houma, LA; sister: Carolyn Brown Weir of Irving, TX; several nieces and a nephew. She was born in Dallas, TX, on April 29, 1931 and graduated from N. Dallas High School in 1947. She graduated from SMU in 1951, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority, Phi Beta Pi, and the French Honorary Society. Marjorie was christened, confirmed and married at The Church of Incarnation of Dallas, Texas. July 29, 1955. She married Byron Hudson Rainwater Jr. and moved to Ruston, Louisiana to raise a family. Over the years she was active with different community groups, served on the vestry of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, and on the Symphony Board.Her hobbies were cooking, compiling cookbooks, writing articles for a Dallas magazine, and keeping in touch with friends for over 60 years.
