Margie Opal Garrett Douglas Obituary Margie Opal Garrett Douglas, 97, of Ruston, Louisiana went to be with her Lord September 23, 2013. She was born in Point, Texas on March 13, 1916 to David Lyle “Tonie” Garrett, Jr. and Flora Estelle Strong Garrett. They preceded her in death as did her brothers D. L. Garrett of Point, Texas and Raymond R. Garrett of Richardson, Texas and five sisters Gladys Jennings of Dallas, Texas, Olivia Bishop of Wolfe City, Texas, Elsie Mae Garrett of Point, Texas, Myrle Eads of Dallas, Texas and Maree Gorman of Miller Grove, Texas. Opal is survived by one sister Nell Giles of Dallas, Texas and one special lifelong friend and “adopted sister” Jimmie Scott Peterson of Metarie, Louisiana.She is also survived by three sons George Michael Douglas and wife Carolyn of Houston, Texas, David Forbes Douglas, Jr. of Ruston, Louisiana, Gerald “Jerry” Wayne Douglas and wife Lucy of Ruston, Louisiana; three grandsons Adam Garrett Douglas and wife Lori of League City, Texas, Aaron Christopher Douglas of Fort Worth, Texas, William Garrett Douglas of Ruston, Louisiana; two granddaughters Emory Jane Beckham and husband Joshua of Monroe, Louisiana, Heather Lauren Norbury and husband William of Galveston, Texas; one great-granddaughter Avery Morgan Douglas of League City, Texas, one great-grandson Garrett Maxwell Douglas of League City, Texas; a special cousinHoward Garrett and wife Cornelia of Emory, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be a graveside memorial service on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 2:00 PMat the Clifton Cemetery in Point, Texas.
