Margaret Agnes Farley Schiro was born November 4, 1928 in New Orleans to parents Harry and Francis Fourcade Farley. One of nine children, she lived her entire life in the New Orleans area until Hurricane Katrina devastated her home and community. She died on April 20, 2020 at Arbor Rose Assisted Living in Farmerville.
Ms. Schiro was retired from the Department of Agriculture in New Orleans. She loved working and the bonds she made with her co-workers. Her true happiness, however, came in the form of her family. She had tremendous pride and love for all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was especially looking forward to the birth of her 22nd great-grandchild this June. Though she left an everlasting impression on the lives of her loved ones, it’s her love, laughter, and wit that will be dearly missed.
Ms. Schiro was preceded in death by her husband, James Schiro, daughter, Marlene Hilkirk, son-in-law, John Posey, and grandson, Stephen Johnson, as well as her parents and six siblings.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Brannon and husband David of Farmerville, LA, and Paula Johnson and husband Sonny of Lawrenceville, GA; sons, Patrick Schiro and wife Debi of Violet, LA, Mark Schiro and wife Brenda of St. Bernard, LA, and Gary Schiro and wife Alexies of Holden, LA; sisters, Isabella Farley and Claire Foret; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
