Sheree, Holly and Family, I remember your sweet Mom from when I would visit Downsville to see Aunt Josie and Uncle Moat Noland. You may not remember me (Karen Graves) but, I just wanted you to know how sorry I am. Your mom and Aunt Josie made many fun memories!! I know she will be missed very much. I believe Mrs. Mae and Aunt Josie are having a wonderful reunion in Heaven. I pray God gives each of you the strength you need to get through these difficult days ahead.

Mae Hammons was one of the kindest, most thoughtful, caring, and generous ladies I have ever known. My husband and I (BKMiller) met her when we were interim pastor/wife at Downsville FBC. At that time, our grandson who has cerebral palsy visited the church with us. Mae took him under her wing to love and encourage with notes and monetary gifts over the years. He is now 24; he was 8 yrs old when they met. Each time he cane to Ruston to visit, we tried to visit Mae. He played his mandolin and sang for her every time. She asked him to play Amazing Grace in his mandolin for her funeral. He planned to honor that request. So I wanted you to know what a special mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend Mae was. Braeden and I will treasure our sweet memories of her! She loved Jesus, and she is in His presence now!
