Lucile Davis Ashby Kilpatrick Funeral Homes Farmerville, LA Funeral services for Lucile Davis Ashby, age 92, of Downsville, LA., will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Downsville Baptist Church in Downsville. Officiating the service will be Rev. Laymond Tucker, assisted by Rev. Mike Develier. Interment will follow in Downsville Cemetery under direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville, LA. Lucile died quietly at her home in Downsville, Louisiana on April 7, 2012. Lucy, as she was widely known, was born on September 8, 1919, in Arcadia, LA., to Sam Jack and Reita Wade Davis. During the Depression, the family moved from Arcadia to the Wade home place at D'Arbonne. After graduating from Farmerville High School, Lucy attended Louisiana Tech at Ruston where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce in 1940. During the war, Lucy was employed by the War Department in the office of the Commanding General at Camp Polk, LA. It was there that she met U.S. Army Lieutenant Ralph Everett Ashby of Livingston, New Jersey. They were married on December 25, 1942, and moved to Downsville in 1950. She and Ralph enjoyed 56 years together until his death in 1998. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son-in-law, Charlie Hurt, a grandson, Steve Hurt, and her sister, Helen Davis Owen. She was active member of Downsville Baptist Church until Alzheimer's began to take its toll. She is a lifetime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Colonial Dames. Those left behind to cherish her memory are a son, Ray Ashby and wife Lou of Downsville, LA; daughters, Carol King and husband Bobby of Downsville, LA; and Elizabeth Hurt of Winnsboro, Texas; grandchildren, Mark Ashby, Will Ashby, Carol Elizabeth Britt, Jonathan King, Emily King, Valerie King, Charlie Hurt, Jr., Brett Hurt, Bart Hurt, Matthew Hurt, and Eric Hurt; three great grandchildren; three nephews and one niece; and many cousins and friends. Lucy's vivacious personality and contagious laughter brought her many enduring friendships through the years. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville, LA.
