Funeral services for Lou Nell Taylor, 95, of West Monroe, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 30, 2024 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe. Brother Terry Barnes will officiate and interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum under the care and direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Lou Nell was born on January 4, 1929 in Farmerville and peacefully entered heaven on December 27, 2024 while living at The Columns of West Monroe.
Lou Nell lived her life to honor the Lord and was a member of Parkview Baptist Church for over 60 years. She loved her family and was well-known throughout the community. Lou Nell graduated college from La. Tech and received a Master’s degree in physical education from Northeast Louisiana University. For 30 years she was a PE teacher and the girl’s basketball coach at West Monroe High School. While she was at West Monroe, Lou Nell led the girl’s basketball team to win two state championships. She was an avid sports fan and spent most of her life at sporting events and watching basketball, baseball, football, or whatever was available. Lou Nell was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. “Coot” Taylor; grandson, Jason Russell; 2 granddaughters: Jamie Lee Taylor and Megan Taylor; 1 son-in-law, Wayne Mauldin; 3 Brothers, Mitchell Brasher, Bob Brasher, and Jimmy Brasher; and one sister, Jo Simpson.
Lou Nell is survived by her children, Pat Domangue and her husband BJ, Rannie Russell, Linda Mauldin, Brad Taylor and wife Anita, Derek Taylor and wife Cindy; grandchildren, Taylor Draughn, Jade Schaney, Avery Domangue, Alicia Creswell, Mandy Thompson, Matt Mauldin, Roylynn Fox, Diana Preston, Crystal Taylor; many great-grandchildren and other cherished family and friends.
