Miss Lillian Edwards of Farmerville passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Arbor Rose Assisted Living at the age of 102.Born July 18, 1913 in Marion, Louisiana, Miss Edwards was a retired health educator. She received a B.S in Science from Louisiana Tech, an M.S. in Physical Education from LSU, and a Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After teaching at Farmerville and Mansfield High schools, she served in the U.S. Navy as a communications officer and then began her long career with the Louisiana Public Health Department.She was preceded in death by her parents George Miller and Olive Edwards, two brothers Cloyd Edwards and Tree Top Edwards, sister, Waurine Wood, and niece Sherry Sanner. Miss Edwards is survived by three nieces: Sue Forrest and husband Cecil of Cedar Edge, Colorado; Johnette McKown and husband Stan of Waco, Texas; Nonie McKie and husband Billy of West Monroe; and by one nephew, Ronnie Wood and wife Nell. She is also survived by 6 great nephews, 4 great nieces, and several great, great nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held 1:00 pm Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville followed by graveside services at 2:00 pm at Farmerville City Cemetery.
