Serving as Pallbearers are: Robert Allen, Rusty Hodge, Billy Anderson, Josh Acree, Jordan Dean and Scotty Free.
Johnny’s passing came after a brief illness on January 12, 2025. Preceding him in death are his loving wife of 58 years, Melba Joye Farrar Hodge; his parents, Lloyd and Annie Hodge; brother Lloyd “Roebuck” Hodge; and grandson, James Caleb Dean.
Johnny was born on December 24, 1937 in Union Parish. He was a member of the Class of 1956 Alumni of Farmerville High School. He married Melba Joye Farrar Hodge, May 25, 1956. They became parents of three devoted children: daughter, Becky and son-in-law, Dennis Dean of Benton, LA, sons, Brian Hodge of Little Rock, AR, and Tim Hodge and daughter-in-law, Jackie, of Bauxite, AR. He was a proud Granddaddy of his dear grandchildren, Jordan Dean and wife, Callie, great grandchildren Luke, Miles, and Elliott of Shreveport, LA, Jonathan Dean of Port Wentworth, GA, Ashley and Haley Hodge of Bauxite, AR, step-grand-daughter Rachelle Dean Brown and Paul , step great-grandchildren Isabelle, Emily and Caroline Brown of Covington, LA: brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Martha Hodge, Farmerville, LA, sister Joye Ann Hodge Tatum, West Monroe, LA, and many dear friends, nieces, and nephews who were extended family and very special to him.
Johnny was a member of First Baptist Church, Farmerville since October, 1962. He enjoyed Sunday school with the Adult Bible Class. In his early years he worked with the mission organizations for young boys. He also coached Pee-Wee League and Little League baseball for seven years. He served eight years in the Louisiana National Guard. He was one of the first members of the Jaycees in the ’60’s and also was a builder of the Jaycee Hall still located in Farmerville. He received many awards during his 42 years at the Farmerville Post Office. He served well for our town and rural routes. He was an avid golfer and loved spending time with his family.
