Laura Hearn passed away June 16, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel of Ruston. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston, LA. Rev. Leslie Stephens will officiate.Born Laura Turner 99 years ago on March 3, 1918, in Old Floyd, Louisiana, she grew up the youngest child of Glennie Wells Turner and Clyde Turner on a West Carroll Parish farm experiencing the wonders of the Model T Ford, the great flood of 1927,as well living through the great depression when her lawyer father never charged his clients a legal fee.Laura is preceded in death by her sister, Glen Turner Hair; brother, Clyde Turner; and husband, Stephen Kendall Hearn. She is survived by Stephen Kendall Hearn, Jr. and Theresa Garlington, Stephanie Hearn Goff; Grandchildren: Addison and Shelley Goodrich Goff, Laura and Barry Guinn, Dorothy and Wayne Goulet, Nick and Shannon Willis Goff, Alison Hearn and Allen Darnell, John and Brittney Short Hearn and Michael and Wendy Traenkner Hearn; Great-grandchildren: Addison Goff, Elizabeth Guinn, Michael Guinn, Kendall Goff, Nicholas Goff, Lily Darnell, Clara Darnell and Pearce Darnell. Lolly, as she is known affectionately by her grandchildren, attended Louisiana Tech, was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, and has the dubious distinction of flying over the campus with the then Louisiana Tech president son buzzing the campus.After graduating from Louisiana Tech, she taught chemistry and home economics in St. Mary, Parish where she met and married Kendall Hearn. After later moving to Ruston, Laura obtained an associate degree in library science and worked at the Louisiana Tech Library until she retired.She was an active member of Ruston Garden Study Club and worked tirelessly as a volunteer with Ruston Christian Community Action. Stephen, you do not know me because you were three or four years ahead of me in high school; but, this is the woman that was behind and supported our "Papa Hearn". What a wonderful family you have! May God comfort you during this time and always! Your family affected many, many people; and, I'm grateful to them!

Mrs. Hearn was the absolute epitome of grace, wit and wisdom. I worked with her for many years at Prescott Memorial Library and Mr. Hearn was my choir teacher. I loved them both!! Mrs. Hearn was a very special person to me and to many others!

Steve, Theresa, Stephanie, Ad and Shelley--I am so sorry for your loss. May your sweet memories and the words in John 11:20-27 bring you comfort and peace.

Very dear Southern Lady! Worked with her at La Tech! My prayers are with her families.

Mrs. Laura served the Lincoln Parish community with such dedication through Christian Community Action. Because of her level of commitment, some of her other family members have helped in one capacity or another. I speak on behalf of the board of directors, the staff and the volunteers in saying that Mrs. Laura was truly an asset to CCA. She will never be forgotten. Her loyalty: priceless!
