Funeral services for Kenneth Bishop Monroe, Sr., age 72, of Ruston, LA will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 10 A.M. at Cook Baptist Church. Rev. Stephen Nutt will officiate. Interment will be at Pines Memorial Cemetery in Ruston, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.Mr. Monroe was born on December 30, 1943 and passed away on September 17, 2016. He worked as a shop foreman for T. L. James for 30 years and as a barber with Volentine Barber shop for 10 years. Mr. Monroe was a member of Cook Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Paula Jones Monroe, his parents, Bishop and Elois Monroe, and his brother in law, Bob Hill. He is survived by his children: Ken Monroe and wife, Dandy, of Ruston, LA; Leaza Hazlewood and husband Josh, of Saltillo, MS; and Jeffery Monroe and wife, Marisa of Durant, OK; grandchildren: Chris Hickingbottom, Morgan Doler and husband, Ryan, Landry Monroe, Mackenzie Monroe, and Kennedy Monroe; great grandchild, Brayden Doler; sisters: Connie Hill, Dianne Volentine and husband, Ronny, of Ruston, Margo Wright and husband, Sydney, of Dothan, AL, brother in law, Wayne Jones of Tyler, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Chris Hickingbottom, Ross Volentine, David Volentine, Ronny Volentine, Wayne Jones, Michael Hill, and Ryan Doler. Honorary pallbearers will be Landry Monroe and Josh Hazlewood.Visitation will be Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 9 10 AM prior to the service at Cook Baptist Church.Memorial donations may be made to the Gideon.Online condolences may be made to the family at www.kilpatrickfunerarhomes.com.
