Kathryn Riedel Davis of Ruston died in her home on August 29, 2018.Kathryn was born on May 15, 1950 in Lake Jackson, TX to father Richard Riedel and mother Mary Ellen Elsbury Riedel. She graduated from Memorial High School in Houston. She then went on to Louisiana State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in French Education and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She later received a Master of Science in Education from Louisiana Tech University.While at LSU, Kathryn met Russell Davis, and they were married on May 29, 1972. They then moved to Arcadia, LA where they lived and raised their three children. She taught French for many years in Lincoln Parish Schools and at Cedar Creek School.Kathryn will be fondly remembered by family and friends for her joie de vivre. She maintained a love of all things French throughout her life. She enjoyed sewing, watercolor painting, quilting, and knitting. She served as the president of the North Central Louisiana Master Gardeners and could be found working in her garden most mornings. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She loved literature, travel, swimming, and her grandchildren.Kathryn is survived by her husband H. Russell Davis of Ruston, daughter Rebecca Cruse and husband Jason of Houston, TX, daughter Maryanne Smith and husband Brian of Ruston, and son Richard Davis and wife Kimberly of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Wesley and Jackson Stallings, George and Josephine Smith, and her sister Elizabeth Riedel.A funeral is scheduled for September 1, at 2:00pm at Trinity United Methodist Church Burkhalter Chapel under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.
