Karen Sue Reppond Camp was born on September 1, 1949 in Monroe, Louisiana and passed away peacefully in her home on August 24, 2024. She was greeted in heaven by her parents, Nelson and Irea Reppond.
The last few years were tough, but Karen lived her life with purpose and passion. She loved people, not just her family, the kids she coached playing softball, customers at her stores, her employees she loved like family and her lifelong friends. Karen had her ways and sometimes it was blunt and loud, but it was always honest. She attended NLU and began her career at the State Farm Regional office in Monroe. Karen then met Ray, married and moved to Mississippi where they farmed and started their family. In 1984, it was North to Alaska! with Ray and their daughters Kelly & Kim for more opportunity.
While building and growing Beluga Pawn in Anchorage, Karen made the time to coach both daughters softball teams, attend important activities and explore the last frontier on ATV’s with the girls. When the time came to retire, Karen wanted to move back to Northeast Louisiana. Retirement wasn’t fun for her and Ray, so they opened Tool Town in Bastrop, Louisiana. She worked hard and taught her daughters to do the same. After retiring again, she enjoyed activities with her friends at Community Baptist Church and trips with old friends. Karen’s greatest joy was being a grandmother to Evan and treasured her time with him.
Karen is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ray Camp and daughters, Kelly Weatherford and Kimberly Sims and grandson Evan Sims, all of West Monroe. She is also survived by her brother, David Reppond (Elaine); sister-in-law, Linda Bjorge (Bucky); nephews, Chris Reppond (Patrice), Kevin Reppond (Tyra); friends, Kay Spence, Marcia Harrell and Beverly Cambre; and numerous cousins, extended family and friends. Karen is also survived by her stepchildren, Christy Camp, Cathy Wyatt (Ricky) of Decatur, MS., Brian Tunik (Karen) and family of Barrow, Alaska; grandchildren, William Wyatt and Robert Wyatt (Camilla).
Pallbearers will be Chuck Cambre, Chris Reppond, Kevin Reppond, Brian Harper, Gary Harrell, Rick Donaldson and Colby Spence. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mitchell Gardner and Michael Clayton.
The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the kind nursing staff at Fresenius Dialysis Center, and Elara Home Health.
