Julia Elizabeth Holman McFarlandKilpatrick Funeral HomeRuston, LAGod has called his faithful servant home.Julia Elizabeth Holman McFarland, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, departed this life on September 4, 2014 after a lengthy illness.She was preceded in death by her loving husband Durward McFarland. Left to cherish her memory are her children, James B and Carolyn Guice, Johnny and Charlotte McFarland and Tony and Julia Savana. Grandchildren Jordan and Debbie Holmes, Josh and Elizabeth Miller, Tim and Leslie Sutton, JD and Lindsey McFarland, Sara Savana, and Joseph Savana; Great grandchildren : Walker Holmes, Davis Holmes, Elise Sutton, Tyler Sutton, Claire McFarland, Abigail Miller, and Tryon McFarland and Sister -in-law Jewel Holman. Judy was born on June 25, 1923 in Downsville Louisiana to Hampton and Leslie Holman. She was the youngest of eight children. In 1943 Judy went to Forth Worth, Texas to support the war effort by building airplanes for Consolidated Manufacturing. She returned to Downsville to marry the love of her life, Durward and make a home and raise a family. Judy and Durward were married for 55 years. Judy was an active and dedicated member of Downsville United Methodist Church. She loved opening her home to family and friends. She enjoyed quilting, cooking and traveling. At the age of 88 Judy achieved her goal of visiting all 50 states. Judy was a wonderful example of Christian love and will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Judy‚ life will be held at Downsville United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at 2 PM with visitation to follow.
