Philippians 1:9On the day of her birth, March 3, 1922, at the Oaks Plantation in Keatchie, LA, Judith grandmother picked up a pencil and marked this verse in her Bible with an X and declared it, Judith verse at the bottom of that same page. This was her life verse, the one that was prayed over her, and her love did indeed abound.Judith (better known to all as Judy) went to her heavenly home on December 9, 2017. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Janie McDonald Perritt of Boerne, TX, one niece, Judie Camus Boxill of Jupiter, FL, her special niece, Vici Jones Fallin of Ruston, LA, and four nephews, Joseph Joe Richard Herrin, III of Shreveport, LA; Rev. William Bill Franklin Herrin of Baytown, TX; Raymond Frank Camus, Jr. of Shreveport, LA; and John William Perritt of Tyler, TX.A graduate of C. E. Byrd High School in Shreveport, LA, Judy attended Louisiana Tech University, where she met her future husband, John Worth Perritt, a Tech football player at the time. John later became the mayor of Ruston, where he served for 20 years. And Judy was at his side as first lady of Ruston. And what a lady she was!Early in her career, she owned and worked in Drew Shoe Store. Later she was employed at Bess Cook, and finally she spent many years at Graham Department Store before retiring. Judy was known for her style and class. She was always on the cutting edge of fashion, and she helped so many women with outfits and shoes for various occasions. Judy would find the perfect outfit and always made certain that each customer realized just how darling and cute she looked in it before leaving the store. She boosted the confidence of her customers and made each one feel special and ready for the red carpet.Ruston was near and dear to Judy heart, and she was very active in the community. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Ruston. She was also a member of the Ruston Garden Study Club, where she served as secretary for a number of years. Additionally, she was a member of the DAR. And she was an original member of the Tuesday Bridge Group.Judy is preceded in death by her husband, John Worth Perritt; her sister, Billie Jean Talbert Camus; and her son, John Worth Perritt, Jr.Her funeral will be at First Baptist Church of Ruston at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. Visitation will precede the service at 10:00 A.M. at the church. Interment will be at the Keatchie Cemetery in Keatchie, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.Serving as pall bearers are Drew Jones, Bill Jones, Bert Jones, Schumpert Cassity Jones, Tom Jones, and Rodney Manning. Honorary pall bearers are Jim Fallin, Joe Glasgow, Herb Boxill, Joe Herrin, Bill Herrin, Raymond Camus, and John William Perritt, and Matthew Manning.A special note of thanks goes out to a group of very special women who cared for Judy in the last months.
