Juanita Ann Nita Wade, 88 recently of Monroe passed away January 21 at the Meadowview Home in Minden, Louisiana.Visitation will be at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Monroe on Lamy Lane Sunday January 24 from 12 until 2 pm. Graveside services will be held immediately after visitation at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.Nita was born in Truman, AR to Catherine and Morris McKinney on September 17, 1927. She graduated from High School in Jonesboro AR, in 1945 and was selected Miss Jonesboro 1947. Later that year she was selected 1^st runner up in the Miss Arkansas Pageant in Little Rock. She earned a Bachelor degree in Home Economics from Hendrix College where she met and fell in love with Eric Wade from Pine Bluff whom she married in 1949.Nita was a housewife and loving Mother, and was a member of the First Christian Church. She enjoyed antiques, interior decorating, sewing, bridge club and preparing the most delightful meals.Nita is preceded in death by her husband R. Eric Wade, Sr.; parents, Catherine and Morris McKinney; and sister, June Harrington. She is survived by her 3 sons, Eric Jr., Steve, and David, grandchildren Jessica Phillips of Lincoln, CA, Eric Wade III, Austin, TX, Nicholas Wade of West Monroe, and great grandchildren Nolan Wade, Megan, Andrew and Anna Phillips.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church of Monroe, 3400 Forsythe Ave. Monroe, La. 71201.

Juanita was my cousin. Much older than me but our dads were brothers and we still were connected. Always enjoyed being around Eric sr. and her...God Bless her family.

I remember my "MiMi". She was such a wonderful grandmother. The Christams', the Thanksgivings, and getting up early on Easter morning to go egg hunting in the back yard. She always loved to laugh and being married to my "Pops", Eric Wade sr, she had to love to laugh cause he could make a joke at any time. I remember those moments as a child seeing her with her pretty red hair, big smile and kind, warm voice. When i remember her voice and i hear those little saying she always had, " well I should say" , "oh my word", as she would follow those phrases with a charming laugh. She was a true classy lady. And her loss means an end of an era. She now gets to be in Pop's arms again, together. I love you MiMi. Love always. -Eric Wade 111.
