Memorial services for Joyce Woody, 84 of Ruston, LA will be held at December 14, 2013, 2pm at Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Hulen Warren officiating. Burial will follow services at Pecan Grove Cemetery in the Hilly, LA community under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Ruston, LA. Visitation will be December 14, 2013, 1pm at the church prior to the service. Born and raised in Hilly, Louisiana, she graduated from Ruston High School. Joyce then went to Shreveport and received her diploma in Nursing from Highland Hospital. Joyce married Charles Woody, US Air Force, in 1952, and then moved to France where her first son, Danny was born. They moved back to Louisiana, and her daughter, Lou Ann, was born in 1954 in Alexandria. Joyce continued to move far and wide for being a “small town girl” including Florida, Oregon and Arizona where in 1966 her son Frank was born. They then spent five years in Northern Virginia. Joyce moved back to Ruston in 1977 after her divorce, and she began working at Lincoln General Hospital. She continued to work there for 20 years at a job she loved with people she loved. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for many years and enjoyed playing bridge at Friendship Club. Joyce also enjoyed traveling with her good friend, Marilyn Rhodes, and the two took many trips to the Southwest together. She also traveled to Germany to see her daughter's family while they were stationed there and was able to travel in Europe and see many sights. She was always up for a trip anywhere with friends or family. She went to New York City, Boston, New Mexico, and Arizona. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, J. E. Delony and Lessie Holloway Delony; brothers, James E. Delony, Jr., and Ralph G. Delony; son, Daniel Woody; and grandson, Aaron Rush Davis. She is survived by her daughter, Lou Ann and Myron Davis of Ruston, LA; son, Frank and Lisa Woody of Lake Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Joy A. Davis of Monroe, LA; Jesse and Marisa Davis of Ruston, LA, Matthew Davis of Bossier City, LA, Alissa, Mary Jane, and Ruben Woody of Lake Dallas, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
