Joshua Stephen Juneau, 34, was the beloved son of Frances Kay Downs and the late Stephen Robert Juneau. He was a cherished brother to Rachel Juneau, Joan Juneau, Steve Juneau, Matt McKnight, Melanie McKnight, and the late Megan McKnight. He was also a devoted uncle to numerous nieces and nephews: Westin, Wyatt, Landyn, Lahna, Laney, Annalise, Madeline, Shelby, Colt, Ellie, Jordyn, Sutton, and Jase.
Joshua had a passion for racing that ran deep in his soul. Every Saturday night, you could find him at the dirt track, either working in the pits, changing tires, gassing up the car, or driving it around to pack the track. He loved everything about racing, but most of all, he loved the unity and the energy of being in the pits, right in the heart of the action. Growing up, it was common to see an engine hanging from the front tree in the yard, or Josh speeding down the street in his go-kart—often wrecking it and rebuilding it, just for the thrill of doing it all over again. He embodied the very spirit of adventure and mischief, from doing doughnuts in parking lots to drag racing down the street, climbing trees, crashing bikes, and pushing every limit he could.
Beyond his love for speed and mechanics, Joshua had a heart that was even bigger than his dreams. He never met a stranger, and he loved unconditionally. He was fiercely protective of his family, especially his sisters, always looking out for them—and their vehicles. His wit and sense of humor were unmatched, and if Josh was in the room, you could guarantee he was up to something silly, bringing laughter and light wherever he went. His infectious smile made him impossible not to love.
Joshua worked as a mechanic and a CDL driver, enjoying life on the road and getting to see the countryside. Despite the miles he traveled, his heart was always with his family. He often sent money home to make sure they were taken care of, always putting others before himself.
Fifteen years ago, Joshua suffered a traumatic brain injury from one too many hard hits to the head, leading to a long journey of medical challenges. Yet, through his suffering, he continued to live life to the fullest, always thinking of others. Even in his hardest moments, he was the first to share his groceries with his neighbors, pass out water to those in need around his apartment complex, and show kindness wherever he could. He walked in faith, guided by the Lord every step of the way.
Joshua was dedicated to God by his grandfather, Reverend James Downs, and later chose to be baptized in his grandmother’s bathtub—a testament to his unwavering faith. His life reflected the words of the apostle Paul: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7) Though his earthly race has ended, we find peace in knowing he has crossed the ultimate finish line into Heaven, where his suffering is no more, and his reward is great.
Joshua’s love, laughter, and legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
In lieu of flowers or arrangements, the family requests a love offering from those who are able to help with burial expenses.
We will have a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Luna Assembly of God, West Monroe.
