Graveside Services for Josephine Davis Ray will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral of Monroe.Josephine “Jo” Davis began her life in Simsboro, Louisiana on March 8, 1923. She and her twin brother Joseph were the 6th and 7th children of Mack and Ethel Davis. She married Thomas James “Tom” Ray on August 30, 1937. They had two children Tommy and Norma.Jo was predeceased by her son Thomas Anthony Ray “Tommy” in 1980, her husband Tom in 1981, and all of her older brothers and sisters; Clyde, Annie, Mary, Sanford, Milton, and Joe. She was survived by her daughter Norma, recently retired, and living in the Lake Conroe, Texas area. She is also survived by her three grandchildren; Tammy, Tracie, Tommy all of the Denver, Colorado area.Jo worked for K-Mart in Monroe, Louisiana for many years and retired in 1990, broke up housekeeping in Monroe and moved in with her daughter Norma in Southern California. They returned to the Houston, Texas area about one year later.Jo always loved dogs and had one or two up until recent years. She was always very active for a 90+ year old person. She played electronic games, knew everything that was happening in a political or news arena, and never missed a trip to Wal-Mart. She was almost always anxious to go if the car was leaving the driveway. It was her body that gave way not her mind. She loved plants and always had our patio full of ivy, conch plants, aloe vera, cactus and anything else green.Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.
