Funeral services for Johnny Glover will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Parkview Baptist Church in Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. There will be a visitation at Parkview Baptist Church from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Dr. Lee McGlone will officiate the service and a private family interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park.Mr. Glover was born on August 13, 1926 in Marthaville, LA and passed away on June 19, 2019 in Monroe, LA. He graduated from Marthaville High School in 1943. He went to work in a Beaumont, Texas shipyard until he was drafted in 1944.He went to Basic and Infantry training at Camp Joseph T. Robinson in North Little Rock, AR. Upon completion of Basic and Infantry training he joined the 164th Infantry, Americal Division, Eighth Army where he served as a rifleman and served in the areas of Leyte, Cebu, and Mindanao, Philippians. Mr. Glover division was off the Philippean coast training for the invasion of Japan when the war ended. Not having enough points to return home he was retrained as a military policeman and served near Tokyo until his service ended in 1946.Soon after the war Mr. Glover met the love of his life, Miss Joyce Bruegger and they married and spent 71 loving years together. Mr. and Mrs. Glover were longtime members of Parkview Baptist Church.Mr. Glover worked as a salesman for Lee Dry Goods Company out of Shreveport, LA for many years. Monroe was his home base but his sales area covered all of Northeast LA, Southeast Arkansas and into West Mississippi.Mr. Glover is survived by his wife, Joyce Bruegger Glover; son, Joel Clay Glover, Sr. and wife, Vicky; grandchildren, Joel Clay Glover, Jr. and wife, Makala, Shelby Glover, Reilly Glover, Carter Glover, Rachel Glover, Sarah Glover, Samuel Glover; great grandchildren, Conner Glover, Bennett Glover, and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Herbert Glover, Sr. and mother, Julie Cleo Glover; son, Gregory Scott Glover; sister, Esther Roberts; and brother, Floyd Herbert Glover, Jr.
