He held many jobs over the years, including truck driver, factory manager, farmer, carnival game operator, social worker and restaurant owner. He loved watching all sports and played football in high school and in college, where he received his degree in social work. He spent a lot of time fishing at his cabin in South Dakota, and for the last several years spent his winters in Farmerville.
John was a proud Alcoholics Anonymous survivor with over 25 years of sobriety, who embraced his role as a counselor to others in their journey.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Arbor Lake and Union General Hospital.
