Funeral services for John (Pete) Goforth, age 74, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Ouachita Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church. Brother Mike Holloway will officiate.  Interment will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church cemetery, 219 Crowell Road in Eros, LA. Services are under the direction and care of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.

John was born on April 30, 1947 in Rayville, LA and passed away on August 1, 2021 in West Monroe, LA. He was a member of Ouachita Baptist Church and a veteran serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He retired from Graphic Packaging Plant 31. He loved his wife and sons. His grandchildren were a joy to him. He loved to hunt, fish and loved taking his boys and all their friends to the Buffalo River to go camping and canoeing.

John was preceded in death by his son, John David and his parents, Fannie and J.R. Goforth; brothers, George Goforth and Hank Goforth; sisters, Bonnie Brown, Ruby Hobgood, Ivon Pee, Francis Darnell, Ola Mae Bishop and Jo Jones; his mother and father-in-law, Katie and James B. Haddox.

John is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruth Goforth; sons, Shannon and his wife, April, James Goforth; grandchildren, Logan Simmons and his wife, Kaylee, Laela Simmons, Emma Goforth, Andi-Kate Goforth and Brett Goforth; sisters, Christine Word, and her husband, Jerry, Reatha Campos and her husband, Herman; a special nephew that he loved like a brother, Larry Watson; and many other nieces and nephews and cherished friends.

Pallbearers will be Perry Pee, Mike Pee, Wade Darnell, Keith Darnell, Buck Goforth, Dustin Goforth and Bradley Goforth.
