Funeral services for John Edwards Upchurch, age 81, of Dubach, LA will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 23, 2017 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston. Rev. James Richard Wells will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Sibley Cemetery, near Choudrant, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.Mr. Upchurch was born on September 17, 1935 in Hilly LA and died January 21, 2017 in Ruston, LA following a lengthy illness. He was a retired veteran of the Army Reserve and was retired from Louisiana Power and Light. Mr. Upchurch owned and operated Upchurch Lumber Co. He was a sawmill operator and a mechanic for many years. He was also a lifelong Mason of the Robert W. Cretney Lodge in Sterlington.Mr. Upchurch is survived by his wife, Sandra Johnette Baker Upchurch; children, Sandra Suzette, John Randall, Tracy Renee, and Emily Ruth; brother, Donald Ray Upchurch; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Lee Brantley, Brad Bridges, Reggie Hobson, Steve Hollis, Joey Neitz, Johnny Roberson, and Dennis Stokes.
