Funeral services for John E. Underwood will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 21, 2017 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe. Rev. Bruce Underwood and Rev. Roger Stoffer will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M., Monday, February 20, 2017 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe.John was born on July 1, 1935 in Wisner, LA and passed away after a lengthy illness on February 18, 2017 in his home in Monroe, LA surrounded by family. He was the retired owner of Underwood Furniture. John was a member of Bosco Baptist Church and he is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Underwood and Ruth Boyd; a sister, Pat Lenard; two brothers, Marvin and Ernest Underwood; a son-in-law, Chris Donaldson; daughter-in-law, Trish Underwood .John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Stansell Underwood; sons, Bruce Underwood (Jennifer), John Edward Underwood, Jr. (Christy), and James Mark Underwood (Lorie); daughter, Kimberly Ann Donaldson; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; brothers, C J Underwood and Lee Underwood; brother-in-law, Truett Lenard and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.Pallbearers will be grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons.
