January 26, 1950 – November 4, 2024

Visitation for John D. McFarland, 74, of Downsville, Louisiana will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Downsville Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow immediately at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Hank Hamilton officiating. Services will be under the direction and care of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Johnny was born on January 26, 1950 and lived his life in Downsville, Louisiana. He was a member of Downsville Methodist Church. He worked in construction and loved his job. He was a member of Downsville and Choudrant Masonic Lodges.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Tryon Durward McFarland and Julia Beth Holman McFarland.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; daughter, Leslie McFarland Sutton and husband, Tim; son, J.D. McFarland and wife, Lindsey. He cherished his four grandchildren, Elise Sutton, Tyler Sutton, Claire McFarland and Tryon McFarland. He is also survived by his sisters, Carolyn McFarland Guice and Julia McFarland Savana and husband, Tony; and several nieces and nephews.

I stumbled upon this by accident. The family has my sincerest condolences. I know that Mr. Johnny will be missed terribly. I am so sorry for your loss.

Mac was a good friend and we made memories of conversations, argument, and laughter. He will be sorely missed.

I first met Johnny way back in the summers between my high school years when I had the chance to work for Mr. Pierce Crawford's construction team which included my grandfather, Mr. James Franklin, Johnny's Dad, Mr. Durwood, "Cigar" Holloway, Mr. Willard Futrell and David Barnes. Awesome group of men. Johnny and I developed a lifelong acquaintance and I enjoyed visiting with him every chance we got to see each other. Thinking of your family and praying for you during this time of loss. Johnny is probably having to separate my grandfather and Mr. Durwood, because they are still likely arguing about how a cabinet should have been built. My sincere prayers, Kip Franklin

I’m so sorry to read about Mr Johnny Mac. He was an excellent framer and carpenter. My Dad thought the world of him and Mr Terrell, as did my mother and I.
