Graveside services with military honors for John C. Doan, 79, of West Monroe, will be held at 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the pavilion in the Northeast Louisiana Veteran’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe from 12 Noon until 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
John was born on February 24, 1946 in Monroe and passed away on February 21, 2025 in Monroe. He was retired from the United States Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. John served during Vietnam. During his time with the United States Navy, he received the Good Conduct Medal, Navy Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the Navy Achievement Medal. John was preceded in death by his parents, Elza Clifton Doan and Myrtle Knighten Doan.
John is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cynthia Nappier Doan; 3 sons, Clifton Wayne Doan, James Richard Doan, Davis DeWayne Doan and wife Alissa; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, James McDaniel and wife Wanda; brother – in –law, Bruce Nappier and wife Debra; and many other cherished family and friends.
