John C. Bowen, age 80, was born April 24, 1940 to John Newton and Lida Reynolds Bowen of Bernice, LA.  He passed away on December 22, 2020.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Pine Grove Baptist Church Pavilion in Bernice, LA. at 1:00 P.M. with the service to follow at 2 P.M. on December 24, 2020.  For those who are unable to attend in person, the service will be streamed on the Bernice First Baptist Church Facebook page.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Monelle Bowen McCallum and brother, Jimmy Bowen.  He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Charlotte Denham Bowen, daughters Terrill Bowen Coggins (Tim) and Johna Bowen Barnette (Steve), step-son; Geoffery Deason (Rachel), grandchildren; Khaki Coggins Wiygul (Henry), Navy Coggins, Jordan Spells Adkins (Josh), Connor Kelley, Alyssa Deason.  His great-grandchildren are Journey and Jericho Adkins, and his beloved furbabies Larry, Moe, Biscuit, Lily Belle and Daisy May.

He retired from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries after many years of service.  Some of his fondest memories are of being a pilot flying shrimp patrol in South Louisiana and patrolling the backroads of north Louisiana.  After retirement from the state, what started as a hobby lead to him opening Johnny’s Marine and Lawn.

Johnny loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting all types of game.  He especially loved the challenge of hunting turkeys.
