Funeral services for Joe Malcolm Spence, 84, of Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Monroe with Elizabeth Crouch Williams and Mark Pugh officiating. Interment will be at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:30 PM until 7:00 PM, Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the funeral home.

Joe was born December 20, 1936 and passed away January 1, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas Spence and Irene Crouch Spence; and his wife of 50 years, Joan Houck Spence.

Joe is survived by his wife, Rose Moore Spence; daughter Donna Spence Kutz and husband Marty; grandsons, Joseph Martin Kutz and wife Ashley Walker Kutz, and Joshua Thomas Kutz and wife Angelica Ramirez Kutz; and great-grandson Asher Thomas Kutz.

Joe loved his family and friends. He enjoyed bluegrass music and playing, singing and teaching others to play and sing harmony. Joe played by ear the guitar, bass, fiddle, banjo and his personal favorite, the mandolin. He sang and played in numerous bands and at church. Joe was retired from ULM as a HVAC Mechanic.

Pallbearers will be George Doughtie, Lendell Taylor, Steve Houck, Tony Concelli, Corbet McMullen and Bob Crouch.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Barron, Dickie Chapman, Kevin Harper, and Terry Barbin.
