Joe Mack Risinger, passed away on October 10, 2020, one day shy of his 88^th birthday, at the Overton Brooks Veterans’ Hospital in Shreveport, LA following a lengthy illness.  Joe Mack was born October 11, 1932 in Spearsville, LA.  He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War during where he received several military honors and awards.  After his discharge, he married Carolyn Watson and bought the land on which they lived and raised their five children.  In addition to being a cow and chicken farmer, Joe Mack was also a skilled bulldozer operator. He was recruited to perform dozer work all over the state, even after his retirement.   Some of the happiest times of Joe Mack’s life were the years he spent on trail rides in the wagon he built, pulled by his beloved mules.   In recent years, he enjoyed telling stories to his family on the sleeping porch where he sat in his favorite swing for hours each day looking out over his beautiful land with pride.

Joe Mack was preceded in death by his parents, Minor Joe and Estelle Hollis Risinger; grandson Chad Andrew Null; sisters Lou Ellen Risinger Webb and Gayle Risinger Grigsby, brothers Perry Risinger and David Risinger, and mother and father-in-law Irene and Hubert Watson.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years Carolyn Watson Risinger; son Mark Andrew Risinger and wife Sarah; daughters Amy Rogers and husband John, Lesia Hamaker and husband Phil, Pam Livingston and husband Perry, Mary Jo Null and husband Andy; sister Julia Risinger Evans; sister-in-law Barbara Risinger; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many good friends and neighbors.

A graveside service will be held at noon on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at the Antioch Church of Christ Cemetery officiated by Brother Tommy Bennett and Brother Charlie Reeves.  Visitation will be held at the Spearsville Church of Christ prior to the funeral from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.

Serving as pallbearers were Dustin Rogers, Kyle Livingston, Andrew Molnaird, Kyle Hamaker, Jeff Grigsby, Joe Sink, Jody Britton, and Tony Wilkinson.

Honorary pallbearers were the members of the “Taylor Town University” where Joe Mack gathered often with his buddies to discuss and pontificate world events.  Memorials may be made to the Antioch Church of Christ Cemetery Fund.
