One of the True Royals on this Earth, Brother Joe Owen, has been summoned to the Throne of God, to be with King Jesus. I'll always remember the time I rode with Brother Joe and Carla to my parents home to share the Truth of the gospel. There we were, driving very slowly, down the interstate in this car with flags all around, If you were fortunate to see it, or ride in it, you know what I'm talking about Lots, and Lots of smiles! I felt like I was in a scene from "Coming to America" with Eddie Murphy, when his father was riding in a limo surrounded by all those flags. Like Royalty! However, According to 1Peter 2:9, we are a Royal Priesthood Then, come to find out, my daddy and Brother Joe shared the same birthdate. What a Beautiful time we had! Sometimes my daughter and I would go and worship on Sunday evenings with Brother Joe and Carla and sit beside them in that special place. They would give us a Warm Greeting, Hugs, Lots of Laughter, and would be just so Happy to see us. Then we'd all Sing and Praise the Lord together, not as black, not as white, but as the church of the Firstborn, whose names are written in Heaven. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Precious Memories, How they Linger!

Granddaddy you will be missed. We take great comfort in the fact that you are with your Lord Jesus and that you were ready to meet Him when you left us. And please don't worry, Grandmother will continue to get oranages in the winter so she'll know that she and you are always in our hearts.

Aunt Carla, Sammy, Dedious, Mac, David, Joe and Becky: I will always be thankful for times I had with Uncle Joe. He was a very special selfless man who gave us all tons of love and thoughtful guidance, both directly and by example. I will forever be grateful to Uncle Joe and Aunt Carla for having Nancy and I for the wonderful summer of '70 and all of us in Baumholder in '67; and, for spending time with us on leave and after his tour Viet Nam. Joe's faith and activities in Viet Nam inspired a whole generation of his extended family. He was in baseball vernacular , "rock solid!" I am sure God has him penciled in a pretty good lineup now. Paul @ Elmendorf AFB Anchorage text me well upon hearing the news this am....".Joe had a long run and was loved by many." On behalf of Mom, Paul, Nancy, our families and myself, you will all be in our prayers and thoughts as we give thanks for being loved by Uncle Joe. Love you all. Mark

The Cosby family enjoyed such an encouraging friendship with Mr. Joe through the years. My dad and mom Ronnie and Patty and siblings Jennifer and Matt loved visits with the Owen family when our paths crossed, and we wish they could have more often. Much love to Mrs. Carla and crew, as you work through your grief while embracing the joy of knowing his reward in Heaven is great.
