Funeral services for Joan Louise Bennett Walters, 86, of Calhoun, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at First Baptist Church ~ Calhoun. Rev. Neil Everett will officiate and interment will follow at Beulah Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home ~ West Monroe. Visitation will be held at the church from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.
Joan was born September 20, 1935 in Newellton and passed away on June 4, 2022 in Calhoun. She loved the Lord and lived her life witnessing to others. Joan loved and prayed for her family and others daily without ceasing. She welcomed everyone into her home. Joan and Ray enjoyed participating in “Christmas in Calhoun” for many years. Mom loved and tried to take care of all those she could. Her motto was “Because I Can” and the Lord blessed her and many others. Joan’s life was her witness. She is and will be missed, but she’s in Heaven and in her heavenly body. Thank you God for our Mom. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Wayne Walters, Sr.; son, Danny Joe Walters; parents, Jesse James Bennett and Neoma Louise Arnold Bennett; brother, Donovan R. Bennett.
Joan is survived by her children, Ray Wayne Walters, Jr. and wife Terri Coleman Walters, Keith DeWayne Walters and wife Cheryl Payne Walters, Micki Walters Horrell and special friend Roy L. Hughes; daughter-in-law, Deborah Powell Walters; nine grandchildren, Jeremy Walters, Matt Walters, Luke Walters, Kasey Cooper, Cassidy Hall, Jenay Boyte, Dana Spence, Jessica Rosson, T. J. Horrell; twenty great-grandchildren; brother, Ricky Lynn Bennett and wife Sandra; sisters-in-law, Annette Coker, “Babe” Elizabeth Felice, Rita Bennett and many other cherished family and friends.
