Jimmie Richard Howell, age 90, of Simsboro, Louisiana passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011. He was born in Arcadia, Louisiana on November 11, 1921 to James Thomas Howell, Sr. and Sarah Ellen Durrett Howell. Jimmie graduated from Simsboro High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and retired from Southern Natural Gas as a Field Operator after 30 years of service. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Louise Riser and Dorothy Mae Spencer; and brother: James Thomas Howell, Jr. Jimmie is survived by his wife of 62 years: Nelda Roberson Howell; three children: Janis Carroll and husband Bill of Shreveport, Richard Howell and fiancé Dixie Cupid of Simsboro, and Brenda Cryar and husband Robert of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren: Brian Carroll and wife Kristina and children Gavin and Kalyssa Ann of Costa Mesa, California, Ashley Carroll and children Conner, Emma, and Brody of Bossier City, Louisiana; one sister: Sarah Ellen Kincannon and husband Pat. Service for Mr. Howell will be held Friday, November 25, 2011 at Simsboro Baptist Church with visitation at the church at 9:00 AM and services at 10:00 AM. Officiating the service will be Rev. Wilton Wall. Interment will follow at Simsboro Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.
