Jimmie Delony Goode, 39, of Weaverville, North Carolina, passed away in a tragic accident on April 26, 2025. Jimmie was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on February 17, 1986. He was raised in the Shreveport-Bossier area and spent considerable time in Ruston where he grew up hunting, fishing, and making memories with family.
A graduate of Loyola College Prep and Louisiana Tech University, Jimmie earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mathematics before going on to complete a PhD in Applied Mathematics & Statistics from Stony Brook University in New York. As a data scientist and researcher, he contributed to the development of cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies across multiple industries. He had a natural aptitude and intelligence that was truly remarkable, and he was deeply passionate about his work.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jimmie was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished son and brother, and loyal friend. His sense of humor, caring heart, and love for his family were evident in all that he did. His love for the outdoors spanned from North Louisiana to Austin and to the mountains of North Carolina where he made a home with his wife and young son.
He is survived by his wife, Samantha Capezzuto Goode; son, Henry Manimus Goode; mother, Pat Delony; sister, Amy Miller, and her husband, Brock; nephew, Brock Miller Jr.; aunts and uncles, Mike and Sue Coyle, Lois Morris, and Liz and Rusty Saylor; father, Steve Goode; father and mother in law, Jim and Jamie Capezzuto; special childhood “nanny,” Shannon Olmstead; and a host of beloved cousins and friends. He is predeceased by grandparents, Jimmie and Lodi Delony and Lewis and Sara Goode, and uncles, Stuart Goode and Dave Morris.
A visitation will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston from 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2025, with a memorial service to begin thereafter at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Justin Haigler of Simple Church in Bossier City officiating. Interment will follow at Cook Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.
