Funeral services for Jimmie Coats, 88, of Farmerville, will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, March 13, 2023 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe. Chaplain Wit Bass will officiate. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens. Visitation will be held prior to the service from Noon until 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Jimmie was born on January 24, 1935 in Memphis, Tennessee and passed away on March 8, 2023 in Farmerville, Louisiana. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Jimmie retired after 44 years of employment at Southern Tool. He was the finest fisherman to ever walk the Earth, loved building and working with cedar, building clocks, and cedar chests. Those are just a few among many.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Kathleen Coats; daughter-in-law, Debra Mayo Coats; parents, Albert and Julia Coats; brother, Tommy Coats and a sister, Peggy Coats Hatfield.
Jimmie is survived by his children, Sonia Calloway from Cleveland, Texas, Rory Lyn Coats from Farmerville, Louisiana, Jim Coats and wife Rhonda from Farmerville, Louisiana, Julia Michelle Roberts from West Monroe, Louisiana; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a brother, Jackie Coats.
Pallbearers will be Mike Ashcroft, Jill Ashcroft, Jim Coats III, Michael Coats, Marcus Coats, and Colin Cloyd. Honorary pallbearer will be Stephen Coats.
