Jerry Kirkland was born on December 6, 1944, and passed away at his residence in West Monroe, Louisiana on August 26, 2024. After growing up in California and graduating from Bell High School in LA, Jerry joined the United States Marines, where he proudly attended Staff NCO School in Quantico, Virginia, served 15 years and did 2 tours in the Vietnam War. After the United States Marines, Jerry decided to join the United States Air Force reserves. Jerry further honored his country by reinstating the West Monroe Charter of the American Legion Post 201 where he served as Commander for many years. Jerry loved racing Mustangs and riding his motorcycle with the Combat Veterans Motor Cycle Association. He was a dog lover, but most of all, Jerry loved his grandchildren, making laugh and taking them “Cheniere Dipping”. His grandkids will forever remember him for his love of life, laughter and silliness. Jerry is preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Adam Kirkland; mother, Florence Kirkland; father, H.H. Kirkland; and sister, Joan Middleton.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bonnie Lynn Kirkland; son, Jerry Michael Kirkland and wife Brenda; daughter, Kristy Kirkland Singleton and her husband John; daughter-in-law, Amber Kirkland; grandchildren, Leslie Vanderberg (Morna), Emily Eves, Allie Eves, Ella Kirkland, Alaina Nash (Chance), Lindsey Rhinehart (Seth), Hunter Canterberry (Reagan), Alanta King (Zak), Kaitlyn Kirkland and Ty Kirkland; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; along with other cherished family and friends.
