Funeral services for Jerry Gene Grigsby, age 67, Ruston, LA., will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Gary Willis and Rev. Brad Jones will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery under direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.Jerry was born in Ruston on March 12, 1947 and died on September 27, 2014 in Choudrant, LA. He graduated from Ruston High School in 1965; attended Louisiana Tech University; and graduated from Holland School of Jewelry in Alabama. He was a certified watchmaker. Jerry began working in his parent‚ jewelry store when he was 17; after his parent‚ death, he owned and operated Grigsby‚ Jewelers until it closed in 2004. He loved the outdoors doing whatever it had to offer. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, loved riding his tractor and planting a garden. Another love of Jerry‚ was going on rides with his motorcycle and taking trips.Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Gene Grigsby; sister, Deb Lary; brother, Jim Grigsby; and several aunts and uncles.He is survived by his children: Jason Grigsby and wife Jennifer of Tyler, TX; Amy Bigler and husband, Chris of New Iberia, LA; Lindsay Grigsby of New Iberia, LA; six grandchildren: Cam and Hayden Grigsby; Caroline, Molly, and Jack Bigler; and Tucker LeBouef; Special Companion and exceptional caregiver for many years: Penny Parnell of Choudrant, LA; Uncles and Aunts: Glen Grigsby and wife Jan of Ruston, LA; Chester P. Grigsby and wife Audrey of Shreveport, LA; Sue Horton and Paul of Shreveport, LA; Geraldine Veatch and husband Bud of Aurora, CO; brother-in-law, Rob Lary of Ruston, LA; sister-in-law, Denise Grigsby of Ruston, LA; and several nieces, and a host of friends.Pallbearers will be Andy Anderson, Richard Anderson, Wes Clark, John Freeman, Robert Goss, Jeff Grigsby, Track Kavanaugh, and Ricky Nelson.Memorials may be made to the Parkinson‚ Foundation or Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Choudrant, LA.Online condeolences may be sent to the family at www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.com Kilpatrick Funeral HomeRuston, LA.

Such fun memories cone to mind when I think of my time spent working at Grigsby's Jewelers during my college days. From learning to dive a stick shift on the Delivery car to working late on Christmas Eve making sure to take care of every customer. I enjoyed my time working with Jerry, Deb & Yvonne Goss. Learned a lot and had some fun times. It was nice being a part of their family for 4 1/2 yrs. Thanks for the fun memories Jerry!
