Jerry Duane Rogers, 87, of Simsboro, Louisiana, passed away Tuesday, May 15, at Ruston Nursing and Rehab. Visitation will be Thursday, May 17th, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston from 5-7 PM. Funeral will be held Friday, May 18th, at First Baptist Church of Simsboro at 10 AM. Dr. Wilton Wall and Dr. Jason Cole will officiate. Burial will follow at Simsboro Cemetery. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to First Baptist Church Simsboro-Building Fund.Jerry was born April 13, 1931, in Simsboro to Thomas Clarence and Ruth Melton Rogers. He graduated from Simsboro High School in 1948, and married Nina Fay White before serving in the army during the Korean War. After the war, he worked many years for Triad Builders, building residential homes in Ruston. He then became a commercial contractor for Davison Transport before retiring. He was a very skilled woodworker, having built a replica of Simsboro downtown in the early 1900s.Jerry is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nina White Rogers; two daughters: Chere Corley, wife of the late Rusty Corley of Simsboro, and Tina Harlow, wife of Todd Harlow, of Monroe; three grandchildren: Michael Corley and wife, Jamie, Jacob Harlow and wife, Emily, and Nathan Harlow; three great grandchildren: Morgan, Austin, and Jersey; and one great-great grandchild, McKinley.Honoring Jerry as pallbearers are Todd Harlow, Nathan Harlow, Jacob Harlow, Austin Corley, David Stanley, and Terry Strickland.
