Jerral Williams

Jerral Williams- what can I say about such a friend? He was always willing to listen, help, offer advice and just be a friend to all. We all enjoyed working with him on the committee for the class of '69. He was so dilligent in every task he undertook and saw that everything was done right. He kept us all on track. *smile* Jerral, my bud, you will not be forgotten. May all of us learn from you and may we strive to be filled with compassion for others, just as you always were. My thoughts and prayers go out to Peggy, the Hornes, and the remainder of Jerral's family. Jerral was a very kind, caring man. Although our dating relationship lasted for only a couple of years, we remained friends. Jerral enjoyed entertaining and making sure everyone always had loads of fun. We went hunting, fishing, horseback riding, rode on the firetruck in the Mardi Gras parade, etc. Jerral was also the type that would go out of his way to help you with anything. Jerral was very conciderate of other people. I was, I guess you could say a step-cousin to him. He always tried to made you feel good around him. I last spoke to Jerral in Dec. before Christmas. Life seemed to be going well for him. I senced that he felt distanced from some of his family which semed to bother him. I pray for Jerral and his family for he was a very special person and touched so many lives.

Jerral was a good man and a very special friend. He will be sadly missed by everyone at Jim Bowie's Relay Station.

I've known Jerral for 40 years having met him at age 14. Jerral was about 16 and working at A&P Grocery. Each week he met my mom and I in the produce section with his ever present smile that truly lit up the room. I had such a "crush" on him and even though we never dated we went to rival schools he was always such a dear friend. His personality was so unique and more importantly, he was genuine....a "true" forever friend. Monroe has not been my home for many years and I have not seen Jerral for at least 25 years. A few years ago my Mom, brother and sister-in-law had the priviledge of visiting with Jerral. My mom phoned me in Tulsa with the good news. It brought a smile to my face thinking of what his friendship meant to me. I'm just sorry I was not able to see him before his death and sorry I could not attend the services. I was truly shocked and saddened to have heard the news of Jerral's untimely passing. We met many years ago when he served on the Ouachita Parish Fire Protection District Civil Service Board. He was a dedicated public servant and a seemingly selfless, caring human being. I am proud to have known this good man and to have counted him as a friend. My prayers and thoughts are with his family and close friends. My condolences also to his fire service family.

To one of the most giving people I've ever known: It never mattered - rain or shine - Jerral was ALWAYS there for me. If I wanted a friend to talk to, or help with anyting - without fail, he was there. I will miss my very good friend.

Jerral was a consumate professional with a heart of gold who was dedicated to the fire service. Whenever I had the occasion to either talk with him by phone or in person, it was like running into an old friend. It was an honor to have known and worked with him through our respective jobs associated with the Fire and Police Civil Service. Jeff met Jerral through work and they became easy friends. Jerral was an integral part of the opening of our business. Jerral took time with our children as well as so many others that he helped. I am just sitting here in my family room FINALLY reading my paper for the day and it is l:06 a.m. and I am so saddened seeing Jerral's obituary in the paper! I have known Jerral for over 20 years and always thought alot of him. We were good buddies and it seems that I just saw him and hugged his neck at Wal-Mart a few months ago. Would someone please post on here how Jerral passed away so that I can know. May all of his family find peace at this very difficult time. Jerral always had a smile on his face behind that hat and starched blue jeans!! May he rest in peace. I'm sure he's on a beautiful white horse in heaven! Love you lots Jerral!

I will truly miss you Jerral. You was my first boyfriend in high school and my best friend through the years. I am lost for words and my heart hurts deeply. I shared lots of great times over the last few years with you while visiting back home with all of my family. You loved me, my children and grandchildren and we shared lots of laughter that I can't replace. My condolences go out to your family and friends back home that saw you and shared their lives with you daily. I will miss your smiling face and our stories of the old high school days. Everyone that knew Jerral, knows what a friend and beacon he was for MDA. He was always willing to take time out of his schedule for the kids and clients we served. From boot drives to loading up his horses to bring to MDA Summer Camp, making a difference in the lives of others was always at the heart of who he was and what he did. Jerral gave me the chance to ride one of Dr. Horn's horses with him a couple of times - We live close to Dr. Horn's place and from time to time, I would see him riding up the trail. Good bye old buddy. I'll miss you. I wish I could have seen this comming, but I could'nt. Old friends know eash others soul but I dropped the ball on this one. I'm sorry. Now we won't get to share that room in the nursing home together making the nurses crazy. You ask me to remember you. I'll remember you old buddy. When my cell phone dosen't ring at 8:00am for us to go eat breakfast together I'll remember you. During hunting season, when the stillness of the woods are broken by the first rays of the sun, I'll remember you. I'll remember all the fun we had, all the great memories we made, all the crazy stupid things we did together. All the misery we dealt to each of our families, forty years of memories. When you get to heaven say hello to Mamma and Daddy for me and give your Granny a big hug and tell her its form me. We'll continue to do our best but there's a huge empty space in my heart. I worked with Jerral at the Luna firestation. He was always professional in his work, and he never failed to speak to me when we ran into each other away from work. You always knew where you stood with Jerral.....

I went to high school with Jerral. I would see him from time to time around town. He was always so friendly and upbeat. I remember Jerral was a very sweet person. I was so sad to hear of his death. I was Jerral's loan officer at the credit union and we became very good friends. I was a single mother and he took his time to take my son hunting & fishing when he was just 4 yrs old. He would get him every Thanksgiiving & Christmas & take him to the deer camp even when we moved to Lafayette. He taught him so many things a little boy needed to know from a man. He taught him to hunt,fish, ride a horse, ride a 4wheeler and be responsible. He's 17 now and devistated over Jerral's death. He asked "Who will I hunt with Mama?" We could not have had a better friend and will miss him greatly.

Jerral was a great man. My relationship to Jerral was mostly fire service related and union work. He worked directly with me on legislative agendas for the Professional Fire Fighters Association of La. It was through that relationship we discovered we shared the same birthday. I am so sorry for your loss and Oauchita Parish has lost a great man that was loyal to his job, friends, MDA, local union and the Professional Fire Fighters Association of La.
