A memorial service for Jeannine Weems Wimberly Cannon will be held on Thursday, April 19th at 1:00 pm at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Monroe with visitation at 12:00 pm. in the church parlor. Mrs. Cannon died Monday, April 16th following a brief illness. Jeannine grew up in Baton Rouge, LA, the only child of her parents, Carrie and Shang Weems. She was a graduate of LSU where she was selected an LSU Campus Beauty all four years. She met and married Abner Wimberly after he returned from service in the Navy in WW II. They lived in Baton Rouge for 11 years while Ab played professional football in Green Bay, and then was on the LSU football coaching staff. They moved their family to Abner's home town of Oak Ridge, LA in 1960 where Jeannine helped him run their family business. She and her son, Brad, continued to operate the business after her husband's death in 1976. In 1980 she and her mother moved to Monroe where she married Dr. Faheam Cannon. Mrs. Cannon was preceded in death by her parents, Carrie and Shang Weems; by her first husband, Abner P. Wimberly, and by her second husband, Dr. Faheam Cannon. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Wimberly Barr; her son, Brad Wimberly and his wife, Vien; her granddaughter, Jennifer Graham and her husband, Mike; her two grandsons, Brian Barr and Jack Wimberly; and her two great-granddaughters, Caroline Wimberly Graham and Lauren Jeannine Graham. Mrs. Cannon was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Chi Omega Sorority, and the LSU Tiger Athletic Foundation. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Oak Ridge United Methodist Church, St. Paul's United Methodist Church, or a charity of your choice. Jeannine's family wishes to thank her attending physician and neighbor, Dr. Khaled Shafiei, for his care and compassion. Mrs. Cannon will be laid to rest beside her first husband, Abner P. Wimberly, in a private family graveside at Oak Ridge Baptist Church cemetery in Oak Ridge, LA. Those who love the Lord never meet for the last time.
