Mary Jeanne Singletary was restored to her home with Jesus on July 4, 2021 in West Monroe, La., passing from natural causes at the age of 96.
Jeanne was born to the late Lena and Homer Craig on July 28, 1924 in Ft. Smith, Ark., where, as a child, she loved spending time on her grandparents’ farm.
Jeanne met her future husband, the now late Cordell Singletary at church in San Antonio, Tx. during World War II. After a week’s whirlwind courtship they exchanged letters throughout his enlistment and married upon his return. They then settled in his hometown, Oakdale, La.
Mrs. Singletary is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and countless, cherished family and friends.
Left to treasure her memory are her children Tom (Gayle) Singletary and Jane Kelley along with her three grandchildren – Todd (Amber) Singletary, Beth (Regan) Sample, Jan (Landon) Tooke – and five great-grandchildren – Emily Tooke, Russell Sample, Andrew Tooke, Dillon Sample, and William Sample. Included in this fellowship are her Sunday School class, her neighbors, extended family, and close friends – especially Mrs. Doris Thomas and Mrs. Jerolyn Moss.
Visitation for Mrs. Jeanne Singletary will be held at Kilpatrick’s Funeral Home in West Monroe, La on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM..
A graveside service will take place in Allen Parish at the Oakdale Cemetery in Oakdale, La. on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 1:00 PM where she will be laid to rest beside her husband of 66 years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home and Family Ministries, a charity very close to Jeanne’s heart.
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
1 John 1:7
