Graveside services for Jeanie Evans Smelley of Ruston, Louisiana, will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Liberty Hill Cemtery at 1560 LA 508 in Bienville Parish.   Officiating will be Rev. Dana Thrash.

Mrs. Smelley was born July 10, 1933, in Ruston to Robert Earl Evans, Sr, and Earla Andrews Evans.  Mrs. Smelley worked as a telephone operator at Bell South for 31 years.  She enjoyed watching her hummingbirds and spending time with her granddaughter and great grandkids. Jeanie also loved her fur babies, Chief, Drum, Bluey, Angel, Coco, Milo, Wrigley, and Scout.    Jeanie was a member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church.

Jeanie is survived by her granddaughter, Jennifer Broadway and husband Michael; three great grandchildren, Bailey Holloway and husband Garyn of Mary Esther, Florida, Memphis Broadway and Paige Broadway both of Ruston, Louisiana; nieces Dianne Harkins and husband Jimmy of Bernice, Louisiana, and their son Falon and wife Nikki Harkins, of Anchorage, Alaska, Robbin Evans of Ruston, Louisiana.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Smelley; son, Richard Smelley; sister, Lucille Brewster and husband Charles Brewster; brother, Robert Earl Evans, Jr, and wife Maxine Evans.
